Bleach is one of the fastest ways to destroy a gi. I wash and dry mine on a regular basis and it still lasts for years.
To be honest the pants always wear out before the top. At least with every pair I've owned. I don't pay top dollar for a gi either, I get mine wholesale, I think its $45 for a double weave.
You secure that **** Hudson!!

Ha! Great stuff - i'll have to give that a try next time!
There will be great anguish and gnashing of teeth on their part hopefully!

Hang drying it will always leave it stiff. And lots of gis you can't put in a dryer.
Like Yrkoon said, that's where the fun starts.
Protip: Using a ton of dryer sheets on a gi that you can put in a dryer results in a gi that is damn slick and hard to grasp. Stupid for class but I tried this for a comp. and it basically neutralized an opponent's spider guard.

My double weeve is the same way, much stiffer after I washed it. I dont worry to much about it. Just wear it and it will get loosed up at by the end of class when it needs to be washed again.

I own an HCK standard single, unbleached...I wash cold and hang dry (per Howard Liu's instructions when he called to confirm the sizing and whatnot)...and I use Oxy-Clean or whatever that stuff is to get out blood stains.
A lot of guys started training around the same time as me and all dry their kimonos in the electric dryer...all this has done is weaken the fabric and theirs are all tearing whereas mine is bascially the same structural integrity as when I bought it...
I agree...who cares if it's stiff...the better for you, right? Regarding opponent's grips and fingernails...that's their problem if they don't cut their nails and can't hold onto your stiff kimono...fair's fair ;o)

Dunno why you guys would like to wash away the blood, I always liked getting blood on my gi, it's kinda like a trophy imho (even if most of it is my own but other's don't know that)! Besides it's not like it's infectious or anything once you washed it.
