So then, the question is, do you grin and bear it, and continue with your conversation, or do you start saying "I hate that dog, man, that dog has no idea how to carry on a conversation, it has nothing meaningful to contribute to this, what the hell is wrong with it!?"...one response is reasonable, the other one crazy and ridiculous...you pick.ever tried to have a serious conversation on the phone when all you can hear is some little yappy foorking dog in th background? yeah well it's kinda like that... -

Active attacking.
That is :
- creating opportunities to attack
- looking for combinations and continuing attacks
- countering attacks
- defending counters while attacking
- using counters to create new opportunities to attack
- trying to get into the attackers head
- feints, fakes, otherwise tricking your opponent to attack on your terms, not his
- look for patterns, repeated movements, tells, to know when to attack
We didn't do this in aikido - because these are all key elements to *competition*.
truly most school/sensei's never do this stuff, but some do... it just depends on the people involved... as most aikidoka are not really interested in becoming competitive MMA they don't train that way... lots of weight few reps vs light weight lots of reps... different strokes... this says nothing about the effectiveness of the techniques... just about the teaching methodology... i love that **** about GJJ... its just regular JJ, but the gracies have a unique teaching methodology
yeah i just had to edit this to put this in here... still don't think aikido techniques are not effective and can't be applied in an "alive" competitive match... :5yeah:

I have no interest in going officer currently. If, within a year or two of active duty, I decide that I want to make the military my career, I will pursue it. Otherwise, I want to be an enlistee, and any argument I make about it is not going to make any sense to you.
If you want my reasons for going enlistee, PM me and I'll explain myself. Otherwise, lay the **** off."No. Listen to me because I know what I'm talking about here." -- Hannibal -

I really appreciate the good luck sentiments. We seem to disagree about some issues, but it is kind of you to ignore that and wish me good luck anyway. If I go officer, I want to know the enlistee side and the officer side of things. Beyond that, I want to have my ass kicked in Basic, and I want to experience the gruntwork. Maybe it's naive, but it's how I feel.
