    And another one ...

... another TKD coach groping student.

He's an instructor (and apparently married to the head coach) of Self-Defense America. I've seen the head coach interviewed on the local new quite regularly, usually pieces about self-defense (i.e. on-campus women's class). One, I think, featured a blind student getting his first dan, after a couple years training.

IIRC, they're affiliated with that Combat Hapkido POS, that's enough for a thread right there.

I don't consider 12 years old a teenager yet. I think he should get more time for her being 12 year old preteen.

    Jebus.

I knew there guys were pretty much Bullshido, but didn't realize how bad. From their "Programs" page:

Ultimate Martial Artist Program For Children and Adults
This program combines the best aspects of several martial arts styles. UMA mixes the high, hard kicks of TaeKwonDo with the saavy, street smart self defenses of Chun Tu Kwon Hapkido, fill in the gaps with kickboxing and Brazilian Jujitsu.

Read further down the link; there should be some creeped out parents.

However, IIRC from the news broadcasts; though KC is defending him, Bud's been fired.

Yeah, my buddy is a student instructor in Praying Mantis under Sifu Langenfeld there. I studied with them for about 4 classes. My bud told me the little he knew about the case. (Which is less than what the news said.) This place used to host the local BJJ instructor, until him and "Master" KC had a falling out. She's got a criminal record and done some funny stuff with money around that place, too.

I find it curious there's no pic of the accused instructor, though. Well, he did admit to it. Why did he admit to it? Guilt? Most criminals go to jail and then the grave swearing they're innocent even when they're not. Didn't he think he could afford a decent lawyer? The cops around here are dicks, I wonder if they did something funny to get a confession.

    Instructor suspended after fondling charges

    DAN HAUGEN

A Sioux Falls martial arts school has suspended an instructor accused of inappropriately fondling a student. Bud Williams, 46, was arrested Tuesday and is charged with having sexual contact with a child who was 13 years old at the time.

The alleged victim was a female student at Self Defense America, where Williams taught tae kwon do for more than a decade. "We've all been stunned by this," said KC Estes-Williams, the school's director. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the student was spending the night at Williams' house on Nov. 11. She planned to ride with Williams the next day to a tournament in the Twin Cities.

The student slept on Williams' couch. She told police that she was awakened by Williams rubbing her breasts through her sweatshirt. She said she moved her arms, and the instructor fled from the house. She then walked to a nearby gas station and called her mother, who then called police. Officers interviewed Williams at the gas station that day, and he denied anything happened. About a week later, investigators invited Williams to talk again about the allegation. On Nov. 23, according to the affidavit, Williams eventually confessed to touching the student. He reportedly told police it was a "stupid act."

The affidavit also states that after the incident, Williams drove to the tae kwon do school, where he looked at pornography on his work computer. Estes-Williams said the suspect, a third-degree black belt, will stay suspended pending the outcome of his criminal charge. She said it has been common for coaches to assist students with transportation to out-of-town events. When schedules required leaving early in the morning, students occasionally stayed at instructors' houses. "We've changed the policy of the school to not ever allow the children to sleep over," Estes-Williams said.

On the night of the incident, the alleged victim was the only student at the house. Estes-Williams said a parent dropped her off around midnight. She said the school also might consider no longer providing students with transportation to events. A female instructor has been hired to take over Williams' classes, she said. A judge ordered Wednesday that Williams not have contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with children. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb 9.
