Do you ever get that not so fresh feeling?

It appears Mr. Misogynist has sand in his nether regions. This kind of thread, throwdown pics with kinder quality scribbling, is a tradition here. Aesopian is just trying to be cute. Get over it.
Shut the hell up and train.

It makes for an interesting place.

I look at it this way. There are alot of ppl who talk the talk, very few who walk the walk.

Is Aeso making the MD throwdown?

The answer should be enough, right?

Fair enough. Guess I'm just being overly sensitive and haven't been around the site long enough to see similar behaviour.

Just for the record though... I disagree with the initial posts sentiment.

    Anthony:

Very true. People in the throwdown pics are walking the walk... so why dump on em... was my initial reaction. However, since no one seem to share this sentiment, I'll gladly STFU and let the flaming continue.

I'm unaware of the answer to you question about Aeso going to the TD though. I'd assume yes? Either way, don't make much different to the point I'm trying to make.

It's like talking **** to a a white belt in class who's working his ass off, but sucks cause he has little experiance. Bashing hm might make an unsecure person feel good about themselves, but encouraging will help that white belt get better.

But again, I'll shut up as I'm the only one who sees it this way.

I don't believe anything particularily offensive was said in Aeso's post. It was funny and totally benign. Hell, I'd think it was even funnier if it were MY throwdown pictures.

Considering Aeso just got out of HS, it's appropriate.

If they suck, why does it matter if they walk the walk?

It's like talking **** to a a white belt in class who's working his ass off, but sucks cause he has little experiance. Bashing hm might make an unsecure person feel good about themselves, but encouraging will help that white belt get better.
What if, despite protestation to the contrary, that white belt really thinks they're better than the color on their belt implies? Or if they think just being there makes them immune to criticism?

From my brief time here, it seems that validation through throwdowns only seems important to people that are insecure about their skills because they don't get them pressure tested everyday.
By which I mean they train in crappy schools or in what are typically crappy styles.

If you train in something with regular sparring (i.e. something that doesn't suck), meeting up with roleplayers and sparring isn't going to be either apealing or the sparring novel enough to care about.

    Example:
I can go to my school's open mat on saturday and roll with bjj brown and purple belts and drill takedowns with a wrestling coach.

Or I can drive a couple of hours to roll and spar with ninjas.
Which will help me out as a "martial artist" more?
Where will I probably learn more or be pushed more?

I would assume in such an example case you'd want to go to the Throwdown if there was good enough standup striking present? Something that would allow you to test yourself outside your normal practice?
