As I believe has been pointed out about a gazillion times, the most effective training in dealing with multiple attackers is track and field. If you're really worried about it, work on your sprinting.

Its silly to assume a grappler approaches a real fight just like a match. Hell even in a match they try to end it as quickly as possible but pitting two trained fighters against each other thats not likely to happen.

Also Grappling teaches to DEFEND being taking down. If you practice to defend against skilled pple then someone less skilled isn't going to have an easy time.

Usually before a big UFC ppv, UFC Unleashed will showcase matches of the main eventers leading up to the ppv. When Chuck was going to face Horn, Unleashed showed a bunch of Chuck's earlier fights. Same with Randy. Same with Franklin.

I wonder, leading up to the Hughes/Gracie match if they are going to do the same thing. I'd love to see some of the old Royce Gracie matches on tv since finding those tapes at Blockbuster isn't easy.

StreetOnly, your original post made mention of some positive aspects of the applicability of ground fighting (I assume you mean grappling orientated sport groundfighting like in BJJ/Sombo/Judo etc) but calls bullshido on the marketing.

Do you have any examples of this poor marketting. Where a dedicated grappling club makes claims that the optimum strategy for self-defence is to actively seek a ground fight, then I and most here would agree that that is faulty logic.

BUT, is the problem of the faulty advertising as widespread as your post suggests -or ate you just falling foul of the general anti-grappling loby who tend to over-emphasise the perceieved weaknesses of grappling and write posts remarkably like yours?

Good advice, along with the age old "if you do have to hit someone, make sure you hit them bloody hard". But are you sure NO martial arts schools teach that? Not even yours?

Mostly online chats with BJJers. A few BJJ instructors that I've talk to, but I will not release anyone's name here, I don't think that is nesseccery.
