Alright, about a year ago, I took a couple of private lessons from a friend of mine(2nd Dan) in Shorinji-Ryu, and we stopped because of time constraints. Since then, I have moved to Greenville, SC and I wanted to pick up on some type of martial arts. Basically, around my area, we have Mike Sanders Kempo (also does Shorin-Ryu), Taekwondo (sp?), and Moy Yat wushu Assn. I am not a huge fan of Taekwondo because its 75% kicking, and I'm not particularly fond of the structure of Japanese and Okinawan martial arts (circular forms and belt levels).
That being said, is there any reason Kempo is better than Moy Yat, or vice-versa. I have read many threads before I asked, and from what I gather Kempo is a mixture of Shoalin kung fu and another Japanese style. Also, does anyone have any information on any schools in the Greenville/Spartanburg area (including Clemson).
Please keep this thread informative, and thanks for your help.
