Pride Bullshido?

Hi! I've been lurking these forums for a while, but this is my first post here.


As some of you may know, Fedor and Aleksander are currently in Korea doing public relations for Pride (and getting paid quite handsomely for it.) They are going to orphanages, having press conferences, having a sambo exhibition, etc.


At one of the press conferences, he says this;
"I am learning Tae Kwon Do to make myself stronger"

"Personally I think that Russian Sambo is the most powerful martial art, but to increase my kicking ability, I am focusing on Tae Kwon Do now." And he added, "In competitive fighting practice, Tae Kwon Do is indispensable".

Which I think is a brilliant move by Pride to get more Koreans interested in pride fighting, but that is where the bullshido comes into play;

Fedor already trains with one of the best kickboxing coaches in the world, and the top pride strikers have kickboxing and muay thai training; tkd is far from indispensable as far as kicking goes.

He's only there for another week, and his "focusing on Tae Kwon Do to make himself stronger" consists of going around and visiting various korean tae kwon do schools for more Pride PR work.

My problem is not with Tae Kwon Do (a great martial art imo) but my problem is that Pride is paying its best fighter- heck, the WORLD's best fighter- to endorse a martial art he is not going to train in for more than a week or two and have him call it indispensible in competitive fighting.
