While we're at it, Vitor Belfort does Boxing and Jiu-Jitsu.

I'm sorry what were you guys saying? Boxing? pffft, the evidence is all around...All you had to do was Google it. It's obvious what technique he was using.

However, that would best be described as a "jut sao", not a "pak sao".
Just when you think you've seen everything, you see a MMA clip that features Wing Chun trapping followed by a right cross. Bruce Lee, where ever he may be, must have been smiling that day.

    Luv,
    KP

    :happy3:

Suppose for a moment, in the fighter's mind, he really was doing JutSao (though this is PakSao, really).

It's irrelevant. What would be relevant to your wish to make your Idol, Bruce Lee, smile would be if the fighter used the same methodology of Jun Fan/__ng __un to learn it. Just because boxers and Kickboxers are sucessful using Catch-Jabs, slap-blocks, and clearing the line does not validate anything in another training methodology.

Birds fly by flapping their wings. Donning feathers and flapping your arms wildly will not get you off the ground regardless of the fact that's how birds do it.

I've had great success in sparring using Wing Chun trapping to get blocking arms out of the way so I could land a boxing punch. It's also pretty good for stopping a superior offense, like a faster jabber. Tie him up, then throw one over the top or step in and clinch. Sneak in a headbutt or elbow. Or, I suppose, a knee, low crosskick or takedown.

Having said that, I still hate vertical fists and sticky hands exercises.

Amusingly enough, I must admit that I king of like a verticle or slightly angled fist for when I am hitting the bag without gloves, And I likr throwing my left hooks with deadly palm strikes instead of a fist, at least at a distance.

Yeah I wish there was a non-drama causing way of repping posts without having to clutter up existing topics. I always feel the need to add something stupid to the discussion if I just want "+rep" a post.

    RepulsiveMonkey,
Photoshop? Bah, that's all Illustrator. Don't you know that Illustrator > PHotoshop? You know what's funny, though. I had a hard time with that first one, because I had the urge to fix the actual photo before Photochopping Fedor in there. But then I decided it would have better impact if I just made his head match the bad saturation, levels and that eerie greenish yellow tint.

The second one is "intro to Photoshop" work. Anyone can do that one. In fact that was the actual tutorial I had to do (my PS came with that WC photo and the photo of Fedor's head) when I learned it back in the day.

I can't tell...is this sarcasm? Everyday on Bullshido taxes my sarcasm meter, I have to get it balanced like once a week.

Well, i dont really think my palm slappy hooks are deadly, but yes, i'm serious about throwing them that way and hitting with a somewhat verticle fist when not wearing gloves.

Though I suppose it's important to note that my left index finger was broken and healed incorrectly and juts out so I cant make a normal fist with it, and my right middle finger was broken and pinned together, but i still have some stiffness in it so I can't really close it properly either. so I really kind of have to modify my punching when not wearing glvoes or I think I might injure myself again.
