    Denmark's Kessler Retains WBA Title

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Denmark's Mikkel Kessler retained his WBA super middleweight title when Canadian Eric Lucas quit in the 10th round Saturday.

Backed by a partisan crowd, Kessler dominated, and his left jab kept Lucas wary.

Kessler connected with a jab to Lucas' jaw in the second round, and in the next two rounds the Canadian had his right eyebrow treated for cuts.

Lucas' corner threw in the towel at 1 minute, 51 seconds in the 10th round.

Kessler, 26, won the WBA title in November 2004 by stopping Puerto Rican Manny Siaca in Copenhagen, six months after Siaca defeated former champion Anthony Mundine of Australia.

Kessler improved to 37-0 with 27 knockouts.

Lucas, 33, is a former WBC super middleweight champ. He dropped to 38-7-3.

I haven't seen Kessler, I don't think he's fought on American television. He sounds pretty good from what I've read about him.
