Just because there are no EC competitors in UFC, PRIDE, and others, that doesn't mean it automatically sucks.
It's a very strong indication. Jeff Newton did mostly point-sparring Karate as his striking training and he's been in the UFC. What's stopping your eagle scouts?

With just a little research, I was able to find a school that spars full contact:

"We encourage all of our students to engage in some full contact fighting at some time in their training. This serves several purposes: Since it is a martial art, you must learn the martial aspect to make your studey complete. How can you learn the effectiveness of the system if you don't simulate real life closelly"

Omega has eagle-claw as one of his styles. He's competed in pro-MMA and has held kickboxing titles at cruiserweight.

The thing I think is particularly funny about this thread is all the people who said - that's not kungfu thats a wild haymaker. That's just rubbish and goes to show the prejudices they have without even realising it. After all you can only do so much with an arm or leg, and China is a very big place geographically speaking so it makes sense this idea will show up somewhere in CMA.

IMO the guy is doing a CMA long fist style, Pak Hok (or something similar). I spar with a guy who does Pak Hok. Its interesting because it has the opposite approach to Wing Chun: they have deep stances, fight in a stance standing completely side on, and swing with fully extended arms/fists, using a lot of rotational waist and shoulder torque. Just as can be seen in the video.

Pak Hok specialises in the haymaker to hit using strong pivoting actions to hit with their extended arms like clubs. Very good if you are a physically strong guy who likes to swing powerful haymakers in.

Yeah, reminds me of when noob people just decide to put their head down and start swinging with extended arms/fists. I have seen it work in high school. The other guy found it very hard to fight against this tactic and copped several solid blows to the face and then gave up. The guy doing it probably had his eyes closed the whole time.

I imagine something similar happened long ago and it led to a form of MA...

All of the McDojos claim to teach "real" stuff, including yours, I suspect.

You know, that was very poor. I may have registered only a week ago, but I've been in the MA scene for more than a year now, and thus, I should know what a McDojo is. Mine is not.
