This clip shows that streetfighting isn't necessarily the best testing ground for martial arts skill, as those you fight are often untrained and weak.

It depends on the system they train and how they train as well. You can train ballet but you won't win UFC's with that training.

I'm sure that kung fu boy might be good at forms competitions, though.

how can you be sure that is CMA? dont lots of traditional martial arts have silly stances like that? either way, i agree that at the end there seemed different from the rest of the stuff the kung fu guy was doing... the whole fight he is skipping around in a low stance, crossing his legs while punching, then when the fists start flying he stands up and starts flailing like the rest of us.

Silly. Unremarkably silly.

When the fight starts, all he does is punch the air randomly and hope one of the punches hit the thug.

My gosh, a simple straight punch to the face or gut would have done the trick when the thug stepped ahead. Why flail around like that?

Great point.

Especially since, if someone is egging you on to fight and hasn't literally jumped you, you basically get to choose your opponent. If his opponent had been a 6'5" 280lb dude, obviously, he'd have dropped into his stance, and then RAN THE OTHER WAY.
