Style: Wing Chun--
Seeing other lineages in Hong Kong just made me realise the sheer amount of BS in wing chun. I'm there attempting to have sensible discussions with tree hugging hippies who are droning on about "oh gosh no, we never use elbow strikes and we never spar. We train each other NOT to fight!"
And Leung Ting - the man? Leung Ting is so not the man in so many ways. I had a fkin LT student in class the other day pissing me off. "Look mate, that was a really nice 'choke the opponent and smash them into the wall' move there, but you may not have noticed that I said "one sec, I'm going getting some water" and had dropped my hands and moved three steps away from you. It doesn't mean you get to chase me down the gym and declare victory. Arsewipe. -

One of the things I really like about my school is that our training begins with us basically learning how to box. We don't even touch short range, which is where WC's reputation for trapping and the such is found, until we're nine months (longer if you aren't picking up the long range boxing well) or so in to training. Has anyone found this to be a common trait in WC school's? I never really hear or see it talked about by any other WC student.
