wholly C*** i'm a pissed of newbie and i made a thread

yo i'm new to the forum as u can tell so um yeahi'm pretty much prepared for teh worst
anyway...
I've been training in shotokan karate for 7 years (yeah i know wow a whole 7 years) and our primary sensai IMO is pretty good, but we got this other sensai recently who basically is the guy for focusing on "point sparring" (yeah i think u already know where i'm going with this) basically we got to do some point sparring today and i say it is total BS i could list the all the things i see wrong with it but basically i can sum it up like this "in point sparring theres a big difference between what scores and what kills; what scores never kills, and what kills never scores" I know this because me and a few friends (one who pratcies wing chung with a bit of whoo shoe (SP?) another karate guy, and the last who practiced tai kwan do untill he got fed up with it then whent to karate for a bit then whent to wing chung) and we basically do some nice full contact no BS (i think?) "sparring" so i was basically wondering should i just screw this whole point sparring BS and just continue to do what i'm doing or should i learn how to point spar because tehres some "secret hidden meaning" behind it

Find a BJJ school or a MMA school, or a Muay thai school

or another karate school that goes full contact.

Great to see a fellow Shotokan Karateka that enjoys nice hard sparring.

I'd drop it before the point sparring does too much damage. Most of the time i've spent sparring since i left my mcdojo i've had to retrain myself not to stop just because i got a good scoring hit in.

Is this the same dojo with a new sensei or have you recently moved to a new dojo? If it's the same dojo then maybe have a talk with your original sensei, you've been doing it for 7 years you should be able to tell him you think point sparring is BS and your thinking of other options because of the other sensei's hardon for it. He might even point you in the direction of places that will train hard like you're used to.

Failing that AAAhmed has a good idea, maybe try something new and different.
