I read Chris Clugston's webpage. Claims to know 10 or more foreign languages, has a martial system that he claims is decended from Roman Gladiator fighting, the name of this art is Comhrac Bas. I've heard he was affiliated at one time with JKD. He lives in Oklahoma. Does anyone know anything good or bad about this guy, particularly in regards to the above claims? "Curious in Connecticut"

Blade: No, but this IS just that. They put them together.

Sweet! I've always wanted to learn net and trident!

New radical anti-grappling? Technology to systematically obliterate wrestlers? Is he talking nukes here, or what?

Love the new sig, Wastrel. That exchange was f'n hilarious!

It was, wasn't it? I couldn't believe I was seeing it. I guess if Blade said it often enough, sooner or later it HAD to be right.

Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

I think we should hold a funny-caption contest based on just that quote and it's implications. I'll start.

I'll like to ad that I do on occasion hang out among academic types and I have never met an American who had command over 10 languages though I'm sure a few exist. Typically in my limited experience, Americans with multiple language fluencies (lets say 4 or more languages) tend to 1) be academic types, 2) come from first generation families where English was not the first language, or 3) Come from foreign service families or have a similar explaination for growing up in multiple countries overseas. Since Chris doesn't strike me as falling into 1) or 2) I'd be interested to hear how he learned all these languages especially since he appears relatively young (under 40).

Piety.

TBMaster,
It was funny too.

SamuelB,
As a former professional language guy, I second your contention. I knew people who were being paid by the government for multiple language proficiency simply because one (German) could get the far enough on another test (Dutch) to qualify for special pay.

People also claim to be "fluent". What that is, I don't know. I know native speakers who aren't fluent in English.
