my striking method...varies by who im fighting.
but, thats a *****, bullshit answer (no matter how true it is)
ususally though, i try to frustrate with footwork, slipping punches and counter-punching/kicking. if i get locked up in punching range i try to close to clinch or go for the takedown.
now, what are we trying to learn/discuss in this post, so that i may better elaborate... -

Eye-gouge! Nut-kick! Ridge-hand to brachial plexus! Elbow to temple! Stomp, stomp, stomp!
What were we talking about?
Oh yeah. Crescent kick! 540 spinning hook kick! rah!!!
Seriously, striking is serious business. I don't really train in aggressive attacks, or specific opening techniques. Besides the obvious basics, that is. (punch/kick/duh) I'd rather try and trap or counter. Failing that....Pressure point strikes i guess. It's hard to say.:new_all_c -

Step in punch to the chest, right hook to the face, if opponent distances away, push kick straight to the solar plexus to knock the wind out of him. If all that doesn't work, punch, kick, elbow, hit the brachial plexus like neildo said, and take him down for an ass whooping.
Or I'll just end up getting my ass kicked. -

Always taking the initiative and attacking isn't a good idea...not only because you will become predictable, but mostly because you will eventually face a good striker and walk into a punch.

I don't plan on fighting anyone long enough to become predictable, I'm out or they're out.Always taking the initiative and attacking isn't a good idea...not only because you will become predictable,
In which case, I won't be awake to regret it.but mostly because you will eventually face a good striker and walk into a punch.
Let's him do the same thing...besides which, my strategy is the same for everyone, so these things don't effect it.Some benefits of the "wait and see" method:

I'd rather hit than be hit.2. Draw the attacker into striking
If I have to do this, I've lost already.3. Catch your breath
There is no diffusion, either I'm running, or I've been cornered, and then it's on, until somebody's unconcious.4. Diffuse the situation (non-competitive)
I try to focus on staying away from the law instead. Don't fight people that know you, don't wait for the ambulance, don't brag, all is well.5. Stay within the law (non-competitive) -

My bad. Your first post sounded to me more like a competitive fight rather than a life-threatening one.

You'll think it effects you if you get a knife in your side while you are trying to punch him.Let's him do the same thing...besides which, my strategy is the same for everyone, so these things don't effect it.
Me too...but the idea behind drawing someone into taking a swing at you is NOT to get hit and position yourself for an effective counter.I'd rather hit than be hit.
Again...a competitive example. If I have to do this, I've lost already.
And if the guy who corners you has a gun, or knife, or is 6'10'' 360 pounds of muscle? Are you telling me that you don't consider diffusion a relevant tactic? There is no diffusion, either I'm running, or I've been cornered, and then it's on, until somebody's unconcious.
