TKD vs. Kung fu

Lol, yeah, that was an awesome flick, although the last scene was a blatant ripoff of Soul Calibur (Ivy vs Taki).

To answer your question. Well a big part of KSW is learning cultural/historical weapons and such, even if they're not practical today. I don't know why these fans in particular were chosen to be sold on the website, but fans in general were a weapon of the far east in history. I have been a dummy to the technique sets of fans as performed by one of my instructors. Basically a lot of them are strikes with the fan folded up (which hurt a lot I might add). There are also a number of techniques in the set that make use of the fact that it was common place to have metal spines with sharpened tips. So the fan could be opened up and used to slice.

Yeah, whatever, but... have they (the fans) gotta be so gay?

the only guess i can make, and this IS pretty much a guess, is that the male culture over there doesn't have the same aversion to those kinds of colors as we do. When I do reach the point that I study fan I do plan to find a different pair than those though!

Let's not get pedantic on the meaning of kung fu. Everyone here probably knows the literal meaning of kung fu vs wushu, yada yada. Everyone also knows the usual context of kung fu for the layman. Dont let the panties get in a bunch over it.

As far as your Internal MA vs TKD, you are on your own.

Not always. If it's the kind of internal style that just does forms or drills they won't have any huge advantage. I'd be more afraid of the hard styles.
