i like the UGS but i think that inserts would not work well with them, i would suggest wrestling shoes.
UGS are great cause they prevent individual toes from getting snagged and broken, yet they give all the flexibility you could want. they just don't work on mixed wood floor/mats gyms (they only work on mats, on wood floors you have zero traction.)
From what I've seen, UGS don't 'correct' or support the feet where it might be lacking strength/structural integrity - they 'educate' the feet and help them develop strength/structural integrity where they're lacking.
