shoes for BJJ - specific *new* questions

Ok - I just came back from the podiatrist today with some bad news.

Turns out I walk wrong (news to me) - it's a genetic thing and I need to change the angle that my big toe meets the rest of my foot.

This all became an issue when I started BJJ - specifically, the problem occurs when I have to put weight on the ball of my foot and push off - like if I was doing a smash-guard pass for instance.

That hurts like hell.

To keep from further injuring that foot, the doc gave me inserts for my shoes - They go from the heel to most of the way up the ball of my foot.

so here are the questions:

1) Anyone with Ultimate Grappling Shoes think there will be enough room in there for my foot and the insert?

2) For that matter, anyone with wrestling shoes think that there will be enough room for my foot + insert?

3) If there were room in either of the above options for both my foot and the insert, what are the odds it would stay put and not slide around?

Any advice is appreciated - thanks muchly.

I'd say take the inserts with you when you go to buy shoes...like wrestling shoes from a sporting goods store. You'll have to go 1-2 sizes larger. Just take your inserts with you to make sure you get a good fit. The store shouldn't have any problem with you trying on shoes with your inserts.

Nevermind. I googled your sandals and decided you may not be completely lame (though paying 60 bucks for shoes for something you just started may indicate otherwise).
