Nice video. This is some respectable TKD.
Agreed, aside from the over-abundance of spinning kicks, the footwork looked more like Enshin, and the one takedown he did looked more like Sanshou. Then again, good old school hardcore TKD looks more like hardcore Karate than Olympic style or Karate pointsparring.

Well, the way they were fighting reminded me of the KK kumite videos Ive seen on this site. The KK people seem to like spinning kicks too.

This was a TKD video, so one would expect flashing kicks. This tiem they were actually trying to knck each other out.

BTW, my kickboxing instructor fought a TKDist years ago in a Full contact tournamente (that is, Full Contact ruleset). Since he had to fight three matches in two days, and the match against the TKDist was the last one, he was very tired at the moment. The TKDist had better conditioning at the time and won. He used flashy kicks (spinning, axe kicks...) and the like.

As fun as bashing TKD is, I always know that there are some hardcore and respectable TKDists out there, even with flashy kicks.

Yeah, you just see as many of them in the same match. The dreadheaded dude was really efficient with them.

Thanks for the respect. A good axe kick hurts. Spinning is never a smart idea. But if you've got good timing, a good back kick will lay your opponent out, and a good hook kick can crack skulls.

I don't think anyone could deny that if a TKD guy put the same amount of training a MT guy did then the match would be competitive.

    ...or fixed thier training methods.

I mean, whats the differences between kyukushin and other karate styles?

If other styles trained like kyokushin; then they would not have the shitty reputation they do now.
