Another Bruce Lee statue - Seattle wants in
Not too long ago statues of Bruce Lee were erected in Bosnia and Hong Kong [Twitch report here]. Now, word is getting around that Seattle also wishes to erect a statue in honor of the martial arts legend. Lee lived in Seattle from 1959 to 1965.
The campaigners hope to collect $25,000 in donations by the end of 2006, which would afford a life-size bare-torso bronze figure of the 5-foot-7 Lee in a prominent Jeet Kune Do pose to represent the nonclassical martial art he developed and taught in Seattle. “I would like a statue that represents the man,” LeFevre [co-director Seattle Museum of Mysteries], who is part-Japanese American, said. “That’s why I want it life-size. … I want future generations to recognize that Bruce Lee was a living, breathing person, that he was a student here, to recognize that he started out here in Seattle.” A call for design entries has been issued by the Museum of the Mysteries. The top three designs will be chosen by the museum board and be posted on the Internet for a public vote. All entries must be submitted by Jan. 30, 2006.

Just out of curiousity,
If Bruce Lee means so much to those organizers, why did they have to wait until other people started putting those statues up halfway around the world, before launching their own project?

Hell, Bruce and Brandon are both buried in Seattle. Know what that means? Cheap statues. Just dig 'em up, pose them, and bronze 'em. Done.
