That whole "inner door"/"outer door" IS quality controll. Fact is if you could sort out the serious students form the chaff at a glance.....the vast majority of CMA schools would just blow away like so much dust and our rep as a whole would be better for it.

But at what point does this quality control become part of the problem rather than the solution (kind of like auditors seem to have become part of the problem in the business world nowadays)? Isn't that how lineage wars begin (like in the case of this forum's favorite bashing boy Wing Chun)?

Then again, who am I to question a hundred year old practice? I am certainly not saying this has any effect on the reputation of MAs (as long as there is hard sparring and gong sau). Just one noob's opinion.

Never ... the standards can never be too high as obviously at least one person, the standard bearer, met the standards. 1 head, 2 arms & 2 legs ... just like any one else.

Piss poor analogy and way wrong follow on question. You fucking civilian cream puffs use the word "war" far too lightly. The lineage thing is nothing more than politically driven mouth boxing centered on consolidating or obtaining a controlling interest in some specifically badged field. It's bullshit through and through ... if these things were "real" then the matter would be resolved in a handful of days.

The best fighters from lineage "X" would show up and fight the best lineage "Y" had to offer, the outcomes tallied and the lineage winner declared. Instead, it's all smoke & mirrors **** slinging based on who was taught what and by whom. Mindless crap that more often than not has -0- bearing on the target activity proper ... fighting.
