If I were Eddie Bravo I would just coopt it and force everyone to conform to my terminology.
Serious answer to the question: the ability to choke someone with an rnc is equally applicable standing as it is on the ground given the caveat that standing you have sacrificed a certain amount of control and safety (e.g. Garcia versus Rizzo, ADCC2005). -
