    Aikido and Capoeira

Sorry, I couldn't resist posting this after reading another thread.

Can you imagine a fight between Capoeira and Aikido ?

Seriously now, I respect both arts.
In fact, I respect all martial arts.

But being a Brazilian I couldn't resist making fun of my native art, capoeira (which nobody here on Bullshido seems to respect) with Aikido, which also lacks respect from almost everyone !!!

Hmmmm, thats a very interesting scenario, I'll probably go in favor of capoeira, for sheer mobility. You can't lock or throw somebody you can't touch.

True, If the Capoeirista is doing the ginga then the Aikido practitioner can't touch the Capoeirista, I respect all arts in many ways and Capoeira would have to be the most interesting art because of it being a Art/Dance which is apart of their culture.

ummm....I'd probably just walk away, but if the music was good maybe I'd stay and dance too. "the rythm is gonna get you, the rythm is gonna get you, the rythm is gonna get you, tonight!"

Yes, I have seen Capoeira and I have met some Capoeirista's in my area and I don't think that a Capoeirista would be doing handstands,flips,etc... but maybe they will or maybe they won't and Aikido is all about trying to grab your opponent and throw them to the ground and useless stuff like that and Aikido doesn't have no striking background in that art which makes Aikido useless on the street.
