    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Most superior empty hand vs knife ever!!

    http://user21165.websitewizard.com/f.../GRAPKNIFE.mov

    from this site.

Watch at your own risk of stupidity infection.

Reasons I want to gouge my eyes out when watching it:

1 - Obviously, the grappler is not a good grappler. He's "dummying" for the knife attacker to do his "sewing machine attack" without any true attempt to resist. At least get someone competent to the job to attempt the grapple defense. And show the blade draw. If you want to truly show grappling as a defense, start the scenario with the blade as carried on the body and let the attacker try to get it out while the grappler is tying him up.

2 - If the attacker didn't have to use his free hand to hold the kicking shield, he could use it to grab/deflect/impede the kick attempts. In addition, the attacker is again "dummying" for the defender. Attacker made no attempts to cut the **** out of the leg as defender is kicking at him. Watch the attacker carefully...he moves around a lot but (besides some half-assed "touch" attempts) never really attacks.

3 - What was the scenario? Because if the attacker just wanted to shank his victim, why did he have the knife out and on display before the attack? So was it a mugging? An attempted intimidation? See again point #1.

If this has been posted before, it's posted under some weird non-"ki chuan do" name...so tough noogies.

    haha

i liked that clip. it was funny.
I was under the impression that knives were concealed weapons?
Its brandished like a sword in this video.
I also thought controlling the knife would be a better strategy than hugging him.
I have yet to hug an aggressor into submission.

For T3H R34L anti-knife empty hand, you'll have to wait to see Maverick vs. StinkyFoot footage from the last MD throwdown.

Don't they get tired rolling around on the ground? Why doesn't someone just sit on the guy...

Eh. What I want to know is what "Native American" way of ground fighting they're talking about? They said something about Last of the Mohican's, but I don't remember any part like they describe.

The “groundfighting exercises video” looks like someone attempting to break dance while having a seizure. It reminds me a little bit of the way that Darryl Hannah flopped around after Harrison Ford shot her in Blade Runner.

They may have a point though, if you drop to the ground and begin flailing and flopping away like that your attackers will probably leave you alone figuring that you’re suffering from some sort of attack, or possibly demonic possession. Either way they'll probably give up or start laughing to hard to continue the assault.
