Well Ritch holds a PHD in "Martial Arts", of course he should have won.

I know nothing about it. You know where I might watch a clip?

I remember the first time I'd ever heard of the beast - years ago I saw some clip of him training on a news mag show like 20-20 and they talked about how hard it was for him because no one would spar with him - he was too dangerous. But I believed it... heh.. kids.

Pride has occasionally been accused of works, but I think it is generally involving professional wrestlers that "cross over" for a match. By and large, I doubt that 99% of MMA is fixed. I'm sure there are occasional matches, though. I've heard some grumblings about Hook'n'Shoot choreographing the beginning of an occasional match, for instance.

I'm giving MMA (especially American orgs and major international ones) the benefit of the doubt, personally.

I think it is very, very rare.

    Fights I'm skeptical about:

Sakuraba vs. randleman... Randleman rolled straight into the armbar. Then again, it's Sakuraba!

Anything involving Takada - I hate him.

Yoshida vs. Tank - that was some major bullshit. In my eyes the choke wasn't on. Tank gave up too soon.

I think some of the decisions are dodgy, I am sure if a fight is close, or even not so close, the judges may be swayed one way or another depending on various factors. It is not always the better fighter/performance that wins. (The only one that comes to mind right now is Minowa vs. ryan gracie.)

No way is the majority of fights fixed... CroCop vs. Randleman 1 - They would have to give me millions to take a shot in the face like that and then fight 5 nobodies in a row just to be back on the main card. Millions of dollars, not yen.

    What about Takada vs Coleman?

I was rewatching Mezger vs Otsuka 2 today on a KOTC DVD, and that seriously looked worked to me. They were going way too soft to be really fighitng. Otsuka gave a shitty ass shoot and Mezger just walked him to the fence instead of unleashing strikes. I understand it was raining that night and it was outdoors but Mezger had shoes on. Even that left hook he hit him with looked half ass. They were pulled punches. They even start talking at one point in the match, it was really BS IMO, but who knows??

That's funny, I was thinking, "then again, it's Randleman!"

If it was anyone but him, I might be suspicious, but Kevin Randleman is about as close to "submission clueless" as you see in a high-level orginization like PRIDE.

Which is too bad, because if he trained smarter he could be a much better MMArtist. So much potential there.
