Looks like Zen Do Kai people are trained at helping Chuck Norris to the car after too many drinks.

I did ZDK when I was a little tacker... non-contact sparring is lame. A friend of mine used to win all his fights by dropping to the ground and reaching out with his leg as a 'sweep'. Also, people get to blackbelt in hard any time. I rememebr this woman doing a tour of clubs because she was awarded a black-belt in 11 months. The only good thing about it is, at least when I did it, was that a requirement at gradings was push ups. I think to get to black-belt you have to do 50. Dunno if its 50 in one set.

Heh yeah, I also did it as a kid and it sucked.

First form has 5 moves only. Its all non-contact sparring. In my first grading when I was 12 I sparred a 5 year old for my 1st belt. His dad was a fat dan rank guy sitting with the referees. I was told before hand to be careful and let him do his thing.

The sparring even between high belts was poor. But then again I met a guy who got his black belt in 3 months after joining up.

They have a fair bit of money to splash around. I saw recently Bob Jones got given an honourary 5th dan from the head of Doces Pares to promote a video learning program in his schools. It's Mc Dojo money machine paradise and they know it. The program means a Zen Do Kai black belt can get a Doce Pares equivalency belt in 6 hours of video training.

Then one day I met a guy who said he did "Zen Do Ryu"... ugghh...

Screw ZDK, I'm still waiting for a martial art called AZN (Arte Zen Ninjitsu, maybe?)

50 push ups is almost a warm up.

50 push ups not even in one set is... I'm gonna go throw up. Hold on.

I done a year of ZDK based kickboxing it wasn't much more than being told to throw many punches and kicks. I noticed a bad attitude amongst ZDK practitioners. eg. bigger more expirianced people bullying students in sparing basicly cause they can.

Strange... I've heard the quality of instruction varies highly. Some people seem to have sparred very hard in ZDK, some just no contact.

But as for the Mcdojo label... it's called the Bob Jones Corporation, figure the rest out for yourselves...

These guys were huge here in Australia in the 80's and early 90's. Thankfully now they have mostly gone away and don't make any more appearances at fight nights. Now beocme VERY commercial.
