trying to pick bag gloves here and i have a couple of questions:
is there any benefit in buying leather bag gloves?
I have seen some bag gloves with a cut off thumb, is that more convenient versus a full thumb? thx

I just purchased 10ounce Venom gloves, does anyone have an opinion on Venum gloves? I also bought Hayabusa shin pads!

Leather gloves last longer and they breathe better than synthetic fibres. If you're planning on training quite often, I would definitely recommend spending the extra money, and purchasing leather gloves, they'll last you so much longer.
In regards to the covered or uncovered thumb, my original gloves didn't have covered thumbs and my trainer told me to buy new ones as I could easily scratch my sparring opponent or, break my own thumb because of the lack of protection. So I would purchase gloves that cover your thumb!

I'm 5'6", 130lbs. Despite my small stature, I pack a mean left hook, and I consistently bust my knuckles open under 12oz. gloves and ~10 layers of wraps stacked ribbon-style on my knucks. I would move up to 14oz., but numerous sources instruct me to train 2oz. over my fight glove weight, which is 10oz. Should I disregard that and move up to 14oz., buy better 12oz. gloves (suggestions?) or man up and just build callouses?
