I recomend the Everlast Synthetic Leather MMA gloves, they have fairly stiff padding, but they work very well, and they are pretty tough to. I have had two pairs of the century MMA gloves, and they fall apart and absorb sweat, the everlast gloves don't absorb sweat as much.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I could'nt find it anywhere.
But does anyone know what the padding in all fighting gloves is made of? It's just curiosity, I thought about it the other day, and it's been bugging me.

Windy's Pride Style Gloves work great, a little hard to get on and off, but they don't absorb sweat, and they have extra thick padding so they are good to use for MMA sparring, I recomed these gloves very highly, as well as the ones I talked about before.

I think it's closed cell foam.

These are the gloves for training MMA, no other glove comes close for training and MMA sparring.

Thanks, I googled "glove padding" and came up with this link:
    http://www.answers.com/topic/boxing-1

Gloves are stitched with nylon thread and padding is of high-density polyurethane, Latex, or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam delivered in sheet form. Historically, cotton batting has been used as padding and many manufacturers still use this material to pad some portion of their models. Some manufacturers also use horsehair.
But that's boxing gloves. Think they use the same stuff for MMA gloves?

I may as well ask this while I'm here: what's a good, cheap pair of sparring gloves for standup work? I'm looking to get two pairs of pretty soft gloves on a limited budget, since sparring with bag gloves == teh suck.

For hard standup only sparring you should look at 16oz Muay Thai sparring gloves like Twins Fairtex or Windy.
