    Women Immune To Pressure Points!

Just happened to be surfing by FitTV's Deadly Arts the other day and caught the episode on the Indian art Kalaripayattu.

There was a George Dillman moment when one of the masters grabbed a student's arm near the elbow and the guy fell to the floor like the local gravity had suddenly increased.

The master tries the same move on the host and she doesn't even flinch. The master tells her that some of the pressure points don't work on women. The host then comments that she is glad there is another benefit to being a woman.

Now that being said, I have to admit, I have had pressure points demonstrated on me that haven't phased me but affected others so I know they can vary from person to person. Giving immunity to a whole gender though seems like a cop out.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know FitTV's Deadly Arts Has been previously mentioned at http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28144.

However, it was in General BS and "hey did you see" in nature rather than citing actual BS.

Maybe we could try it out some time... (giggle)

Seriously though, one of our students did a four year trip to the East. When he came back he was raving about how good pressure points were and that he had learnt how to exploit dim mak.

I invited him to take me down (I like experiencing pain) and he spent about three minutes trying to find the exact spot. He did it and nothing happened. He said that I was one of a select few who could resist it. I just laughed. I think there is some validity in pressure points (hit someone in the temple with your knuckle/phoenix eye and it hurts like hell!), but I don't think they would be that good to use as a defensive/attacking skill

There is some truth to pressure points. A persons body build and muscle mass can effect how well they work. In a whole I wouldnt try them in a fight at all though since so much suposedly affects how well they work. There are some nice places that cause lots of pain though that can be usefull in ground fighting. I honestly have heard something about women being imune to something related to some pressure points. I didnt pay atention because im not a huge beliver in it myself. It seems that the instructor would have known it wouldnt have worked on her though and not tried it on her.

You see the problems with them pressure points is that some idiots think that they're some kind of magic buttons that work just by touching them. Then even stupider idiots start believing they can use a remote control function on top of that again. Idiots...

That is just pure :bully: shido!

Then again, if there is a weak spot on someone compared to other places on their body, and a reasonably strong guy were to punch that spot with all his might, then it'd work better than if he were to land the same punch on the same persons ass or any other stupid place to punch.

AND I'VE BEEN LURKING!!! Before I registered...

We poke, prod, rip and squeeze places that cause excruciating pain in BBT but the question is how well can it be applied on a non-compliant person who fights back? I suspect not that well.
