There are only 3 options here:
    1) We are talking about 100+ pound long bags and you are talking about 80- pound short boxing bags.

    2) You are exagerating how much they swing and being disagreeable.

    3) your instructor doesn't know how to kick either.

    I pray its not 3...

    1. they're 150lb long bags

    2. I said they swing, I didn't say they go flying away

    3. my instructors are undefeated thai fighters. Maybe you don't know how to kick?

Your bag is moving? Time it, then hit it again to stop it.

Well, WhiteShark, next time I come down to Atlanta for a throwdown, or if you come to the Nashville throwdown, you'll have to tell me and my instructors in person that our kicks suck.

The heavy bags at my boxing gym look like 55 gallon drums on chains. They really don't move much, at least when I hit them they don't.

Its true! My kicks make a deafening sucking noise because the bag wraps around my leg and barely swings at all. Sometimes I have to have people come help me pull my leg out of the bag!

Kicks are more likely to move the bag than punches. There will tend to be some push after the initial impact with kicks. With punches, there shouldn't be a push. Your fist should be retracted.

Honestly, a swinging bag is not a bad thing. When you spar, your opponent will not just stand there at let you beat on him. (If he does, you need a better sparring partner.) He'll move. Learning to hit a moving target with power is one of the best lessons that you can learn. A swinging heavy bag provides just this opportunity. Use your angles, footwork, and timing.

Really excessive swing can be annoying, but it is easily remedied. If it gets swinging too much, just time it as it comes toward you, and kick it again. It'll stop.
