Actually, does anyone know origin of how name Judo chop got started?

    WWII.

Austin Powers destroyed the great reputation of the judo chop, made famous by many a great MA, even used on the Flintstones VS StoneFinger's cronnies.

I guess it really isn't too different from a number of Judo matches, in the sense that someone repeatly attempts their tokui waza until they 1. nail it or 2. lose.

That Judo instructor on the Flintstones had a great Ippon Seionage. He somehow managed to make it work with absolutely no kuzushi. Only the great one's are able to accomplish that.

I don't think we necessarily have to attribute him being an asshole as the reason he did this (unless I missed some anecdotal evidence).

Hell, I'd like to try out a Judo tourney at one day just to see how I do, although I also plan on actually training in Judo at some point in my life as well.

I think it is fun to grapple against different styles (preferably in a class or randori setting, as opposed to a tourney, but that would be cool too), personally.

It is fun to grapple against other styles, but lets not kid ourselves here. If this guy is a purple belt competing in a Judo tournament with people who arent even ranked black belt in Judo, it doesnt take much common sense to figure out that he'd run through the competition with submissions.

Its kinda like Tito Ortiz throwing on a gi and competing in the white belt division. Actually, this past Grapplers Quest I believe, a very similar instance occurred with Jeff Monson throwing on a gi- with the exception that he fought in the black belt division.

People don't know this but, after purple belt in BJJ, you are taught the ancient mantra to lull people into a state of semi-sleep.
This BJJ guy obviously used that ancient tecnique.
I have emailed Helio, he is now aware that someone is abusing this power.

the judo people were up against a tactic they didnt train for. simple

also remember that these guys arent seasoned veterans & it certainly isnt the olympics, just regular guys Vs a tactic they are unfamiliar with
