BNH,
Yea it's who you think it is. Whether he's ready or not...*shrug*. I worked out with him the other night rather controlled and just kicked him repeatedly...he got overcautious defending kicks so then I started punching him =)
I think how he does will depend on if he gets in the ring with a brawler or not. If he fights someone he's a lot stronger then he's got a chance...heck just on his strength I guess he's got a punchers chance. I will say that he keeps his hands up and chin down better than he did 6 months ago.
Speaking of, were you around during the "incident"? I guess you all have some black dude there who's a grad student at UF and has done some kickboxing? Apparently Tony heard the ring timer and had a brain fart when it was 30 seconds left so he stopped and turned his back. I guess the guy drilled him in the head with a kick...Tony wasn't too happy...he admitted it was his fault but was irate the guy didn't even say sorry.
Personally I'm of the defend yourself at all times school of thought mainly because my friends and I are known to kick each other during break times and such just to be dicks. =P
How's the foot by the way?

hmmm, is that why tony hasn't been around much? not that i've been around much. that'd piss me off, too, but i have to admit it's pretty common practice for guys there to hit on the break if there's nobody "reffing" and generally take advantage of opportunities and ****... can't think of who it was who tagged him, though. a mess of the f2 guys have been working on their standup there, and i know one of 'em who does love him a head kick. bah, flexibility is for ballet dancers and fancy lads, not men.
anyway, can't say i blame tony for getting mad... sometimes i get mad at that **** too, when it seems just... cheap. excessively cheap. and i'm occasionally inclined to do dumb **** like bounce off the ropes and throw a clothesline, or do a hogan-style legdrop after a knee to the breadbasket... i'm far and away the "nicest" guy there when it comes to sparring.
foot is fine, if a bit retarded. my hand, though... ****, i don't know what i did to it. due to the holidays and my presence being required for a lot of corporate ass-kissing, i've for all practical purposes taken the last two weeks off. i'm going back tomorrow and we'll see if i can punch again.
not that i'm any expert, but the thing i'd be worried about with tony is that he relies too much on his strength... depending on the ruleset and the required gear, i seriously doubt anybody's getting ktfo'ed in his match, and from what (admittedly little) i've seen, if he doesn't sharpen his technique up he's in danger of losing on points.
