Koto-oshu "made" Ozeki but it is not official until the runner delivers the message on Wednesday. He did well this basho, I watched most of it on TV, but his sumo has been inconsistant due to nerves. The Yokozuna, Asashouryu, broke the record for the most wins in a single year and the most basho wins in a year. That ends up placing him up there with the greatest Sumo Rekishi ever.

I have always had an interest in Sumo, especially when you read about the history of the sport. It really is fascinating.
You are very fortunate to have been at such an event. I am glad you had a great time.

Watching the televised sumo training/skirmishes was a great way to pass the day and way better than most japanese daytime tv.

Regret not having seen it in person while I was there. Though I did participate in drunken dorm sumo bashos of doom.

I apologise sincerely for excessive use of the word 'awesome' in my report.
