Canadian Royal Mounted Police.
A question for those in Canada.
What is theis business with the Canadian 'mounties' ? Who are they exactly ? Are they part of the regular police force ? I'm curious.Hannibal: The sworn enemy of dishonest politicians, source of entertainment on Bullshido and newly appointed Office Linebacker. Terry Tait ain't got **** on me !!!!

The RCMP are a step up from local law enforcemnet. They are pretty much top dogs (pigs?) in Canadian law enforcement. They are also in charge of the PM"s security.
Never had a run in with them personally, because they weren't really in Ontario until about ten years ago. We have the OPP here. Now we actually have an RCMP headquarters right here in London.
A few of my friends from the old crowd were busted by them though. From what I gather they are just cops like any other cops. Most are power-tripping goofs, some are alright people.

RCMP take the role of local police officers but also a national police force, such as the FBI. Some municipalities hire their own police officers, like vancouver or calgary or edmonton, but most small towns have RCMP stationed there. There's a huge process a town has to go through before they can have a municple police department, which is usually better run, trained and equiped. But with the RCMP, the feds pay for a large deal of it, so its cheaper.

Only near the border where its warm. The rest of the country requires them to use dog sleds or the newer fancy snowmobiles.
Why did i get tricked into answering this idiot.....

Thinking of "training" with them too?
If so, put RCMP in your style field months before you begin.
