    Hell yeah! Hell no!

How much the UFC really pays

    This is horrific

    Reported by Wrestling Observer:

    Nick Thompson - $6,000
    Keith Wisniewski - $2,000
    Thiago Alves - $4,000
    Ansar Chalangov - $2,000
    Sam Hogar - $10,000
    Jeff Newton - $2,000
    Jeremy Horn - $50,000
    Trevor Prangley - $6,000
    George St. Pierre - $35,000
    Sean Sherk - $10,000
    Matt Hughes - $110,000*
    Joe Riggs - $12,000*
    Gabriel Gonzaga - $6,000
    Kevin Jordan - $3,000
    Rich Franklin - $26,000
    Nathan Quarry - $10,000

    * Since Joe Riggs didn't make weight, he had to give up 10% of his paycheck. 5% went to NSAC and 5% went to Hughes, so Riggs actually made $10,800 and Hughes made $110,600.
Now I know why Pride is and always will be the greatest fight organization in the world.

    Will always be?

You should take a look at UFC pay scales about 6 years ago. You'd be amazed at the progression.

    Not much more.

Wandy and Chuck make damn near the same amount.

That's only what they make per fight, and not taking into account how much their sponsors pay them.

Yea, but I have a feeling that the low-tier fighters aren't only getting 2k. They are probably getting 5k minimum.

This isn't even a good break down...the better ones show what the win bonus is, etc. To claim that Pride is a "better organization" based soley on what their pay scale is for fighters is naive at best, fucking retarded at worst.

You do realize that for the UFC to have 10,000 people at a live event is huge while Pride and K-1 have routinely filled arenas with 20.000 - 80,000? Think that might have a small economic impact? Take into consideration the cultural perspective, that Pride/K-1/Shooto/Rings, etc are about a billion times more acceptable in Japan as opposed to the "barbaric, cage-fighting" mind-set most people have of the UFC in the US...the sponsors for both events and individuals greatly favors fighters in Japan.

Also it should be noted that many MMA fighters in Japan have the opportunity to make tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands more through the Pro-Wrestling organizations...which Pride, K1, Shooto, etc are associated with....well ****...imagine that...that Japanese organizations pay fighters more than the UFC.

God forbid you see what KOTC or other mid-tier show fighters make in the US. Would it be great if the fighters in the UFC made more? Hell yes. To say that Pride (or any other organization) is better than the UFC because of that reason alone...well you might as well tattoo nut-hugger to your forehead tonight and get it done with.

That amount of money really sucks for those guys. Professional badminton players make more money than most of those guys.

Its surprising to see that Jeremy Horn makes 50k and GSP only makes 35k. Sherk is only worth 10k?

I'm sure that Pride does pay much better than the UFC, but does anybody know the actual Pride pay scale? I have never really seen any reliable information.

The winner of the middleweight GP this year (Shogun) got a check worth 25 million yen, or roughly a quarter of a million dollars in real money (kidding!).

    That's about all I know.

Does anybody else think it would be hilarious to try to pay for stuff at Sam's Club with really big checks like the ones they give to people that win Publisher's Clearinghouse? OH THE IRONY!
