Mostly the latter, but mixing religion with martial arts is generally not a good sign. You can apply your religion to martial arts and vice versa without taking time out of class for it.

Sigh . . I'm going to continue to assume you are not really a troll. Who knows why.

My point is that it does not appear to be a good school. Breaking demonstrations show nothing. How many schools have you visited before deciding upon this one?

Like 5 or 6 and this ones only about a half an hour away from my house. i don't know a whole lot about martial arts but I want to learn, I've always wanted to learn. I came on here and e-budo hoping that someone could help me find a good school but everyone that I asked about got bad comments usually with no explanation. What's wrong with thisw school?

I'm 16 and I want to be a martial artist. I mean I want to train in a good traditional martial art.

Did you visit all kinds of schools or just a few varieties? What did you look for in the schools you visited? Was there hard-contact sparring?

I hate to say it, but it is apparently pretty hard to find a good TKD dojang these days. If you're looking for a traditional martial art, you might be better off looking for Kyokushin, Enshin, Judo, Shidoken, a CMA school that has a San Shou/San Da team, etc. Make sure they actually beat each other up and don't do a bunch of worthless extraneous stuff that has nothing to do with learning how to fight. Unless learning how to fight is not what you are looking for. Then you may not want to ask where to train on Bullshido.

Where in Maryland do you live? There are a lot of guys on here that live in that state, and they regularly get together for Throwdowns. Look in the Throwdown forums and PM some of those guys for suggestions.

I live in westminster. Maybe this isn't the right place to be asking because I thought that the martial arts were about more then just fighting. I want to learn about the culture and heritage. I want to be in a lineage someday. I'll try the throwdown forums but those guys seem like boxers, wrestlers, or brawlers to me.

a good traditional martial art hmm
try looking for kyokushin karate, judo, brazilian jiujitsu, these three arts have a better reputation than most

check out the places you look for, take a training session and see if they spar (good) or mostly do compliant drilling and point sparring only (bad)

what i meant by my previos post was
    do you want to
    - be fit and learn a cool sport?
    - be a badass in ufc or pride?
    - learn self defence?
    - other

edit: do a search for something written by matt thornton called "aliveness", it should turn up on a google search, i will look for it later if you havent found it

if you read nothing else, scroll down a bit until you see "What is Aliveness?"

find a place that does this, and you cant go too far wrong
