got back from great JKD Wed Nite Group seminar

Hi, just got back from the JKD Wed Nite Group seminar in Las Vegas. Had a lot of great ex-Bruce Lee students there teaching. There was an incredible amount of information displayed at the camp, and I think this is one of the groups that is doing close to what Bruce Lee originally taught. Of course the art evolves over time and doesn't remain static, but the instructors are pretty open and honest about the different influences of the art itself and how to use the different JKD elements to put them together. There was even a guy teaching who trains pro fighters down in Florida who is one of the instructors. These guys are pretty much a non-profit JKD group and don't make much money off the stuff because they mostly all have various jobs of some kind besides martial arts. I thought it was interesting that their were a number of ATA and Krav Maga people there, since these guys seem to want to expand their martial arts horizons. It's really hard to define JKD exactly into one category because there is so much stuff contained within it. It really depends on who is teaching is and that person's particular martial arts background. Anyway, very rewarding, and the group is headed by Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer, and Jim Sewell. Well worth the effort to train with one of these guys if possible.

When you say "pro fighters" you mean what?

    Pro point sparrers?

    Pro boxers?

    Pro kickboxers?

dare I say... pro mix martial artists?

They covered just about everything. I think the guy trains pro MMA guys. He introduced some shootfighting principles in his session.

Ooh, do I get to be the first to point out that JKD isn't a style this time?

Hey respect is in order here. Those guys are pretty good. You're right, JKD is not a style but a philosophy. Basically the group sticks to alot of the principles Bruce Lee taught, alot closer to what was originally intended than some of the philosophy now that some of groups follow that tend to mix in so many other arts.

You are a dumbass aren't you? What arts aren't supposed to be in a JKD curriculum? This would be very interesting to hear all things considering. This shits been going on for years and it's pretty fucking ironic. You have no concept of what JKD is or isn't based on that statement above. Stick to what you do know, jacking off to porn on the internet and eating spam, leave the real martial arts to the men kid.
