Anything that mixes up the routine is a good idea. However safety has to be examined as well as cost versus gain, meaning time versus the progress that you're making. I don't want the blood rushing to my head while doing that, so I wouldn't do inverted situps. The best thing I can say is that just use progressive resistance with a variety of exercises, changing the schemes every four weeks or so. One thing to know is that ALL lifts will use the core to some degree. With that in mind, doing endless exercises to work the core isn't necessary. But, one should supplement thier entire lifting scheme with some Ab work either focusing on strength, size or speed strength with endurance being the focus.
To put it all together. If you like doing inverted situps, go for it, just make sure to use some weight and progressively up it. Then after a few weeks, switch to a completely different exercise with the same ideas in mind. Any other questions? -

Good advice above
A fun thing to do with leg raises is move your feet up say 6 inches, and then down 3, then up 6, down 3, etc. and repeat on the way down.
L-sits and V-sits are quite fun too, you can even do them without a chinup bar or parallel bars, just sit on the floor with your legs out and lift yourself up on your fingertips.
Also, I think Ronin posted a thread about ab workouts recently, IIRC there was some good info there too.Straight punches make you go blind. More damage is done to a criminals nervous system when they are struck. Strikes that make you stronger. All this and more systema douchebaggery:
