Unless you are just amazingly talented, BJJ proficiency requires lots of mat time with good opponents. I fail to see how his video system accounts for mat time. This is fucking bullshit and I am furious.

Even if his tapes are amazing in quality and instruction (which I doubt), they will not provide the personalization needed for skill to develop.

I agree with Garbanzo. I look at videos in relation to training as similar to vitamins and supplements in relation to a diet. If all you do in your traning is videos, you will suck, you will not get very good at all. If you take vitamins and supplements yet do not exercise, eat junk food and sit on the couch all day, you will not lose weight, you will not be healthier. But if you train hard and use the videos to supplement your training they can be very useful, same as suplements are when you eat right and exercise.

I think the only thing we can do at this point is to use the deadly weapons of humor and ridicule.
Make them feel bad about themselves. Or at least piss them off.

It's policies like that which will help keep BJJ legitimate, because it was policies like that which made BJJ legitimate in the first place.

Not everything. There will always be a non-fucked-up layer of t3h r3al BJJ burried under the bullshit.

I hate to say this, but BJJ needs its Kodokan. That's what it needs. A single entity with authority to keep things together. And it needs more non-profit clubs.

How is a white belt with a video going to teach a class on BJJ with any skill? I don't know how many times in class the instructor has had to tell me to adjust my holds and posistions to make them work properly. Somtimes you lift when it looks like you should pull and visa versa. It takes some hands on experience to do that.

This stuff is gonna lead to "Ripncrankjitsu" and end up getting alot of unsuspecting people hurt.
