Get 16oz gloves no one wants to spar with the jerk that wears bag gloves...
http://ariesfightgear.com/ often has good sale prices
P.S. You don't want second hand equipment.

1.Pair of 16oz gloves - should run $50-65 for a nice pair of genuine leather "hook-loop" gloves
2.Decent heavy bag - $100-200, depending on size/weight
3.Shin Pads - $45-60 for a nice set
4.Mouth guard - $2 for an el cheapo single, $15-25 for a decent double/gel guard, $200+ for professional dental piece
As stated above, sparring with 10oz gloves is a no-no.

You really dont need a heavy bag for sparring... same for shin guards. Start off with bare necessities... gloves and a mouth guard. Get a decent gel mouth guard... costs like 20 bucks. My brother got some boxing gloves made by revgear which were nice, and pretyt cheap. I think the gloves were like 65.
So for 85 bucks, you can be good to go. Skip on the heavy bag and the shin pads for right now. Christmas is coming anyways.

If you are gonna spend coin, spend it on mouthguard, do NOT be stingy in this.

I'm interested in getting some sparring gear too.
We should turn this into a "what brand/type do you use thread"
ex. J-lau's mouthguard post.
I'm personally interested in finding a good pair of mma gloves.
