    Heh, my personal favourite is when the instructor starts going on about having a "stone face" and never showing your opponent you hurt.

    Usually they make that speech right after you catch a spin back kick in the ribs, or a knee on the inside thigh, or, even worse, when one of the younger dojo members who you were taking it easy on scooped a kick and took out your nuts....

    I remember with pride the way Sensei would look pained when I whined when doing blocking drills. I just never got the point of smashing wrist bones together, specially since his seemed to be made of five inch cast iron ingots (and mine were like baby zuccinni).
