    Hell yeah! Hell no!
'aikido is X' 'aikido is y' 'thats not aikido...' Much of this confusion comes down to a bunch of dudes doing different things, for different reasons, under the same generic banner.

Let me explain your analogy. Notice how I'm not bagging on FP's description.

Because it is an excuse across the board in TMA. Find a highly skilled teacher then, as with this thread, they are always hard to find. Then next comes the I train the real........(insert art). That is why I say bullshido.

Breaking someones arm is not peaceful, learning how to kill, to not kill isn't peaceful

Adding zen, Chan, christianity, philosphy doesn't change the fact that MAs are for killing.

Once you change the martial aspect it becomes cultural preservation............................of joint locks.

Yes, I do fight full contact.

    Don't mix fighting with training.

Lotion is either taking the piss or is a new species of retarded as yet unknown to science. I cannot find another explanation.

Based on my personal experience, Aikido is a good art, and kudos if you've managed to find a good (read: alive) school. They're rare as hen's teeth AFAIK.

It is also related to a bizarre philosophy which has opened it up to be associated to any number of pursuits unrelated to fighting, eg golf. Its underlying philosophy goes against its very existence.

It's now rotten to the core.

That may in fact include the worst example of a kote gaeshi performed by a practitioner above the rank of 6th kyu I have ever personally witnessed. I am truely suprised that someone doing the throw in that manner has the hand eye coordination required to put on a hakama.

I like the punches best. Particularly the moment when everyone stops what they're doing for about a second before the energy suddenly and magically flows back into the technique.
