    butterfly guard help

Hey I've been playing around with a couple new butterfly guard sweeps and I've been having a hard time with them. I think it's because I'm rarely able to get double unders in order to get there weight moving forward. Everyone I roll with is naturally very cautious of sweeps from butterfly guard, which I think is part of the problem. So any advice on getting double unders or other ways to attack from butterfly guard I learned a cool attack for when someone tries to keep you flat with there head in your abdomen today but more options would be nice
    thnx

yeah i did ask today and we dealt with the like specific probelm I've been having from the position (people pinning me flat with there head). I was hoping to be given some ideas for options from here, which would hopefully allow me to if nothing else distract people so I can have more success with my sweeps

I don't know if you do it already, but if not, hook their legs and kick out (grapevine from the guard) before getting the butterfly guard. This should flatten them out temporarily and give you a chance to get underhooks or over/under while they are busy scrambling to get their base back.

Also consider having a tight over/under and sweeping to the over side. If you're bad at pummelling work at it more, but this is a pretty easy posistion to get even a reletive newbie like myself.

Have you tried pushing on their neck with your knuckle? I am sad to say that this is what I was taught to do when they are pinning you on your back.

It also may help to go for the arm position first, and then the hooks with your feet. If you put all of your effort into getting the food position, you may get it but then be cought because while you were getting your feet in, they were getting ready for it.

You can also use double overhooks, with your hands locked in front of their chest.
Stretch them out of posture so their base is on top of you. Then pull them up into the air, release the butterfly and stomp down on the side you want to throw them, while kicking your other foot upwards to complete the sweep.

thnx for the advice it's all good stuff, I think I'm concentrating to much on the foot position, I need to focus on the arm position as well, I'm aware that you can do the sweep from a variety of upperbody controls as long as you can break their posture..............plze keep the advice coming

If you're flat on your back with butterfly hooks in and the guy has his head on your belly: put your left arm across his neck and put yur right hand on your left fist. Lift your hooks like a sweep and drive your forearm back towards your feet, so you end up sitting up. You should never stay flat on your back with your hooks in.

personally i find having one hook in, one hook out to be easier for sweeping.

you might consider giving that a try at training
