If I recall correctly; Kevin Hawthorn was a TKD guy who just up and decided to start teaching a mish-mash of martial arts techniques as ninjitsu. He was even going around Australia claiming to be "The number one ninjitsu instructor in Australia" My BJK instructor once mentioned him, I'll ask him about it and tell you what he says.

It's very odd that they would run muay thai classes and get into this ninja mask nonsense. The martial arts buisness in NZ must be in quite a slump.

So they dress up as ninjas, do crazy poses, and then learn how to kick-box and grapple? Wow, we might have discovered some ninjas who can fight…

I looked at the prices and they are not as reasonable as it first seemed. You pay 85 dollars just to be a member and then $50 for two classes a week for one month, $70 for unlimited classes, and so on. Therefore, the $85 bucks is a mandatory set up fee per year, and then you pay again…depending on how much you what to train.

In response to guardsmasher, it is in Petone, Lower Hutt, North Island.

Have come across rumours of fire arms training conducted by this group. Now my curiosity really is piqued!
Stranger still, I have heard that one of their guys beat a kickboxer in the ring in Capital Punishment in August (for those of you from elsewhere in the world, Capital PUnishment is quite a big kickboxing event over here). From what I understand, it was the kickboxers second fight though and he lost on Judges decision... but still...
Thats it. We need a spy! Anyone else local who wants to infiltrate the den of the dark assasins of the sacred mist or whatever?

Okay, the Kickboxing looks decent, but the Ninja stuff is just rediculous. Like most fake ninjers, the techniques appear to be a mish-mosh of Karate and Kung Fu. And let us not forget the shinobi shizoku uniforms...those things are homosexuality incarnate.

I asked my sensei about Kevin Hawthorn and he said that he was a TKD green belt who decided to start teaching some **** as "ninjitsu". His studnets are mostly kids

If any of you guys out there teach classes and are looking for some extra income, try just calling whatever you are doing ninjitsu. Make you students wear ninja masks. Throw in some random esoteric meditation or something.

How are people going to know what actual ninjitsu looks like? They don't! that's the beauty of the scam. Nobody will ask about lineages or anything and if they do, say you lost the scrolls in a volcano.
