It's a giant study. They can't use calipers, DEXA, or hydrostatic weighing on everyone.
I would be curious to know if they determined body-fat percentages in even a small portion of the sample. BMI DOES have its limitations with athletic people, but I wonder how many of these people were athletic. -
and good morning to you too

It will if you're obese. 30 minutes on a treadmill instead of being a couch potato will do alot. Of course they'd have to up the intensity when they start to plateau, but just think if every American walked 30 minutes a day...We'd be a hell of a lot better off than we are now.

Weak willed and not caring about the consequences of excess - mostly.

We as consumers are not scrutizining enough in what we let the food giants change.
I, myself, am a hypocrite. If you look in my pantry, I am sure you will find foods containing HFCS and PHVO. My wife bought applesauce for our kids at a megalomart, that contains HFCS. We do the best we can in mitigating the amount of bad sugars and fats we allow in our household, but things slip through.
Of course, my family looks at me like I'm nuts when I start ranting about the evils of most corporate foodstuffs.
It's not all bad though, there are the liittle guys out there, Newman's Own version of Oreo's for example, that do their best to give us a choice.
Then again, WTF do I know, I carry a layer of fat around my gut to protect me when I have to visit Canada.
