Wasn't he wearing an Ed Parker Kenpo uniform on one of the IKF cover photos? I remember reading the articles in IKF, I was in 10th grade at the time.

Yep, in fact it was the first issue that editor Dave Cater worked on, and was a complete hand-job of an article.

Didn't the IKF article claim that no prison could hold him, and that he had broken out of jail some outrageous(as in the 1000's) of times? I seem to remember I worked it out that he broke out fo prison something like every 4 days for 10 years, and still manage to make to to Egypt, so he could learn secret techniques from a wise old man by the banks of the river Nile.

Very close - he learned martial arts from a monk who lived on the banks of the Mississippi. While in Egypt, he wowed the locals by calling up sandstorms on command. He had to break out of those prisons, because he had been mistakenly given a death sentence and no one would believe him.
