It's important that you actually do GnP drills with a partner, though; the biggest part of GnP is maintaining top control of an opponent, and punching someone that's moving underneath you is different than punching on a bag. For instance, when I first started out in MMA classes I got into the habit of leaning up in side mount to deliver hammerfists, something which puts you dangerously off balance when your opponent isn't a heavy bag.

Yeah, that's why I stated in my previous post to progress from hitting a bag, to hitting an opponent. (I was posting the above from Scrapper's computer at his work).
The point though was mainly for someone who's never done any punching on the ground to try and see for themselves what it's like. Power generation is completely different on the ground than it is standing up. -
