Plain white Judo Gi all the way. That's what I got when I started BJJ; when it wears out I'll get another. The sleeves are wider and shorter on mine than everyone else's BJJ gi, which can be sometimes be a good thing.

Patches are for TKD forms competitors and NASCAR drivers.

I have 2 big ass patches that run from my knee to the ankle in the front. It isn't fashion. It's form. More cloth on those areas make it more difficult to grip. And since controlling those areas makes it easier to pass the guard - I specifically put 2 patches there.

The only other patch was a small 4" round logo of my school and instructor on the breast of my lapel indicating who I fight for. Since my expulsion that small patch has been removed.

Personally I don't care what you wear. What is gay is wearing a Tapout shirt to a party so people think you are tough and/or make it a conversation peice so you can tell people how bad ass you are. At a tournament or a fight wear whatever the **** you want and endorse whatever products or brands you like.
