They're the nicer cousin of the eight-count bodybuilder.
    I prefer "8 counts" though.

Same thing Bao, but add 2 pushups.

You can also add a leg spread too. Instead of doing the pushups twice, bounce your feet out into a V, then bounce them back in the second time.

What have I been doing then? A burpee with one press-up in the middle and a jump on the standup.
Can be done with dumbells and an overhead press on the (failed) jump.

First you ask about chinups wearing home-made weight vests you can stuff olympic plates into, now you're doing Burpees with dumbells ? WTF ?

Did somebody hack your ipod and replace every tune with the Rocky theme or something ?

Like everything else, burpees have tons of variations. I don't think what you're doing is technically a burpee, but I could be wrong. I think that technically speaking burpees do not involve any pushups and do not have a plyometric finish.

I do think that what you are doing though is much better than a regular burpee, I just don't know what the proper name is.

Plyometric movements are a phenomenal form of conditioning.

Call me old fashioned, but I call them tharr "Squat Thrusts" or even "Squat thrusts with pushups" and if you spread your legs, we call it "break dancing".

"Squat Thrusts" do not involve standing up. A proper "Squat Thrust" is done with your hands remaining on the ground. All you're doing is thrusting your legs out and then back in again.

Break dancing is a better foundation for BJJ than wrestling. :laughing4
