What's missing from MMA?
edit: wow, completely out of context...
If you were going to do retail, you should go the whole 9 yards.
Equipment, posters, videos, clothing line, books, super department store. Like an MMMacy's! Have a convention center type of thing as well where fighters can sign autographs, or you can hold fights. Then take the whole thing online and make millions.

MMA needs a lobbyist group, to organize political action in support of legalizing and sanctioning the sport.
Look at what’s happening right now in California... you have Pride and UFC trying to get it legalized. If their power could be combined with smaller promotions, and support from the fans to form a unified political assault, MMA might not be confined to Vegas and Indian Reservations any more.
This group would pester the politicians until MMA is as legal as boxing

I'd like to follow up on my own post for a second.
MMA needs about 95% of the so-called "Masters" to step up and prove whether or not they know how to fight. Unless their style relies primarily on eyegouges, fish hooks, and groin manipulation, there's no excuse for them to avoid doing so.
And if you claim your style can defeat multiple opponents, then you should have to fight multiple opponents.
There's not enough "put up or shutup" in the Martial Arts.
By the way, I agree with Bud. We should step up and start organizing a lobby group.

MMA is homogenous cause people do what works. Plenty of MMA fighters come from TMA backgrounds (UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell and PRIDE heavyweight champ Fedor Ican'tspellhislastname come to mind) but if you want to win an MMA fight you train MMA. The style vs. style **** was covered in UFC 1-4.

Werd to phrost and ronin, but mainly this.
Don't go Numetal on us like the ufc.
Give it a good clean image like PRIDE has done, not the trailer trash promotion of the UFC.

Any business? What about a dedicated combat sports TV channel with the focus on MMA? If it were possible to broadcast more fights (live fights in particular) then MMA would get a much wider audience than just those who live where it is legalised. You can already see it happening with Spike.Dedicated to legs and the disrespecting thereof.
